She doesn’t know what had drawn her to this particular place on this fine springtime evening. The sun was just about to set overhead and depart from the skyline. With the sky soon to fade into twilight she had made her away from where she had been to this new location. The landscape was breathtaking as she came to a halt in an area that had less trees and more wildflowers. They seemed to dance in the breeze as they tickled her pelt. Their gentle scent drifted to her nose like an old friend.
It was like the word was standing still as she lowered her head to sniff at the flowers. Taking deep breaths she smiled. It was so calm out. The sound of the wind rustling through the grasses, leaves brushing together and the birds chirping as the world got ready to rest for the night. It was perfect. Well almost perfect for it would be more so if she had company to spend it with. Sleeping near another soul hadn’t been something she had been blessed to do in awhile, but it was something she craved to do once more. There was safety in numbers after all and even if she was a quiet mare that didn’t mean she wanted to spend her life alone. No she didn’t need the attention of some hot shot stallion, another mare or two for comfort would be just as good. Yet she wouldn’t outright reject a stallion’s existence.
For the moment though she just stood there smelling the flowers minding her own business.
Leaving the safety of the Moraine Mountains, Romeo was determined to find some new members for his herd. It was definitely about time that some new life was brought into the lands. How else was a herd supposed to grow without inhabitants? Sure, he could easily steal members, but he wasn't that determined at the moment. He would settle for recruiting members the old fashioned way, and actually going out to meet them, himself. He wouldn't even bother with sending a guard, at this time. The chestnut tobiano king made his way down the mountains and towards Oxwater Wood. He moved into a gallop towards the land that he knew he could potentially find new members. The dense forest of the smokey forest faded to a lesser dense forest. Water could be heard as the streams slowly came into view. He slowed to a walk as he neared the water source of Oxwater Wood.
Sapphire voids shifted across the forest as he looked for any other sign of equine life. Sure, the evening wasn't the best time to go out and find members, but he didn't mind. If it meant potentially bringing a new friend home, then why not? His gaze shifted ever so slightly up towards the heavens as the sun was just about to set. The wildflowers of the land tickled his lower legs as he slowed to a halt. A breeze swept through the area, carrying with it the scent of another. The scent immediately caught his attention and he glanced around trying to catch sight of the other equine. Not seeing them, he made his way further into a slight clearing that had way more wildflowers than he could ever imagine. It was there in those wildflowers that he saw a dazzling creature. Sapphire gaze swept over the exquisite mare as he cleared his throat announcing his presence. Had she heard him? Only time will tell. Though, he wasn't about waiting around right now. He stepped into the clearing with ease, but stopped a respectable distance away from the mare. Allowing her the personal space she deserved.
Good evening, he greeted her, though continued shortly after, my name is Romeo. Might I perhaps know your name, please? Talking to mares definitely did not come easy to this five-year-old stallion.

Smelling the flowers had helped calm her nerves somewhat about being alone in this strange place. The woods hadn’t been too dark and scary. Hadn’t been too dense, there had been shelter, there was plenty to eat and of course water. Yet it was a far cry from preferable as far as a place where she could live out the rest of her days. Maybe if she had been wanting to live alone, but loneliness was not for her. As timid as she could be, she was still a soft soul that wanted social interaction.
Nibbling at the grass between some of the flowers Mercy hadn’t heard the approaching steps of the other equine, nor had she smelt him due to the direction of the wind. Good thing he wasn’t a hungry predator she’d have been a goner. The stallion could still be a wolf in disguise, but that is not something she had the knowledge of knowing as this was their first encounter.
Hearing him call out her ears perked as she lifted her head. The way he spoke was rather straightforward. Strange for a stallion towards a mare but she appreciated that. Looking him over she listened to his introduction and then asked a question. Head ducking in a bashful greeting the girl finally spoke. ”Hello Romeo. I am Mercy.” She said in a gentle soft voice. It was almost a whisper but the shy words traveled on the wind. ”Pleasant evening is it not?” Attempting to fill any awkward silence with small talk she returned his question of her name with a smile and question about the weather.
As the chestnut tobiano king waited for a response from the fair maiden, he allowed his sapphire gaze to shift over the landscape, watching for any signs of danger. Anything that would cause harm to either himself or the mare before him. Any in his presence would be protected at all costs, even if he didn't know them. It was just the way he was. When he had called out, he had watched her lift her head. He had even noticed the way she looked him over. The way her head had ducked in a bashful manner was actually kind of cute in his opinion.
Hello Romeo. I am Mercy. The gentle soft lyrics flowed towards him as she spoke, and he offered her a smile. Pleasant evening is it not? Gaze shifted around once more before it returned to the beauty before him. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mercy, he offered in response to hearing her name. Shifting slightly on his hooves, he tipped a forehoof on it's tip. It is definitely a pleasant evening, made even better by the presence of lovely company, he spoke in a rather flirty tone. A habit of his when it came to some mares.
What brought you to Oxwater Wood this fine evening? He inquired, wondering if she would even tell him, or would she keep it a secret from him. He knew why he had come out here. After all, he needed herd members and an eventual queen.

tagMamaMercy words 248 notes here comes the flirting. xD
Standing there watching the handsome stallion before her she couldn’t help but notice just how he held himself. He was fine looking yes, but he seemed watchful. Perhaps cautious even? Was that just a habit of being alone as she was always watching her back as well. Even in a place as lovely as this one couldn’t be too careful should a wolf come sneaking along looking for a meal or something. Sure she could probably fair well enough to get away but probably not unwounded in the process of escaping. It would be smarter for her to seek out a herd to join sense there were safety in numbers.
As he spoke the flirtatious tone wasn’t lost on her, but she didn’t truly trust it to be anything more than show. She wasn’t pretty. Not according to her family who had chased her away from her birthplace. Of course the naive lady didn’t realize just how pretty she was and that those who had flung hurtful comments were not being truthful towards her. Instead they had been jealous of her beauty, but the damage had still been done. What should have been a confident maiden who knew her self worth was merely a shy timid lady who would be polite but judge those who slung compliments her way. "You flatter me Sir Romeo, but surely you jest as there are those that would make much better, much more pleasing to the eye companions than I." She replied softly as she turned slightly away from him timidly. Though she didn’t runaway. Instead she stayed put as he asked her questions about why she had came here. "I have been alone for sometime. I came seeking safety in numbers." Being honest with him she hoped he understood what she was trying to say and that she wasn’t beating around the bush too much.
The chestnut tobiano brute allowed his sapphire voids to shift casually over the mare, studying everything about her that he could see. He studied the way she held herself, the way she moved, even the way her ears would shift. When he had complimented her, he had watched the shift in her demeanor. He had seen the way she has reacted ever so slightly to the compliment, almost as though she didn't believe it. She was definitely a beautiful specimen of a mare and he couldn't quite understand why it seemed like she didn't believe so. Though, he wouldn't question her about it, at this moment in time, anyways.
You flatter me Sir Romeo, but surely you jest as there are those that would make much better, much more pleasing to the eye companions than I. He listened to her lyrics without interrupting her. Sure, there were other mares out there that would be competition for her, but every mare was beautiful in their own unique little ways. Darling, you are more pleasing to the eye than you seem to believe, he cooed lightly, letting the lyrics slip free. Every mare is beautiful in their own unique way, as are you, he added carefully, not wanting to offend her in any way.
I have been alone for sometime, I came seeking safety in numbers. He heard her answer his question and it peaked interest in him. So, she was looking for safety. He could easily offer that. Should she accept, she would find safety within his lands and would find plenty of food, water, and shelter for herself. Well, dear Mercy, it just so happens that I have a land of my own, he started softly, before adding, you are more than welcome to find safety within it's confines. Should you so choose, of course. I will not force you to join me in my lands, but it is an open invitation for you. Though, if you shall find somewhere more suitable, you are more than welcome to go there.
Would she accept his offer, or would she turn it down in search of somewhere potentially better? He adored his mountain ranges and the safety they provided from rival herds. Though, not everyone was suited for life in the mountains and he understood that.

tagMamaMercy words 384 notes he's such a thoughtful stallion. xD
She may not trust him for they had just met, but he seemed nice enough. Though she was suspicious of his compliments she wouldn’t deny the fact that the idea of his words made her blush. She could see a truth that everyone had their own opinion about what beauty was. He was a rather fine looker himself, but she was too shy and bashful to outright call him a hunky mcstudmuffin. Though that wouldn’t stop her from thinking it. They were dressed in the same colors besides from the amount of white. Oh and of course their eyes. Hers were warm chocolate and his dazzling blue like the clearest sky. Oh how she longed to get lost in them but she felt awkward just staring at them, at him. So turning her gaze away she blinked tossing her head as her mane fell over her right eye while the wind played with it.
"I suppose so." She spoke softly finally replying to his statement from before as she thought about his offer. "I am willing to give your home a try. For a season or two can’t say rather or not a place is the right fit without giving it a try." She knew nothing about Romeo or his herd, but so far he had been respectful and kind. The least she could do was return that kindness. "Perhaps you could tell me about your home as we walk?” She questioned as she took a few steps closer to him.
Romeo could see that his compliments had gotten to her, ever so slightly. The way she had blushed was absolutely cute and he couldn't get over the fact that he had caused the beauty to blush. A smile graced his lips as he allowed his sapphire voids to slightly glance over the mare, taking in her beauty even more than he already had. He watched as she turned her gaze away and tossed her tiara. He watched the way her forelock fell over her right eye and the way the wind had played with it. It was definitely a mesmerizing sight.
I suppose so. He heard her say in soft spoken tones. I am willing to give your home a try. For a season or two can't say whether or not a place is the right fit without giving it a try. He nodded his crown in understanding as he softly spoke, I understand. It's definitely worth a try, I shall say. The lyrics had slipped free with ease as he pondered on what it would be like to have others in his herd. It had been awhile since his homeland had thrived and he was excited about the possibility of new life coming to the land. Perhaps you could tell me about your home as we walk? He heard her question and watched as she took a few steps closer towards him.
Of course, my dear, he simply stated and turned in the direction of his home. He waited for her to be ready and once she was, he started toward his homeland. Where ever shall I start? He mused aloud. He bumped her lightly and playfully with his shoulder. Well, my mountains are an amazing sight to behold. We do have the occasional predator, but they seem to keep to themselves most of the time. They also seem to prefer to find their meals elsewhere and offer us more of a protective service than anything, he started on about his lands, the love, compassion, and excitement he held for his lands was evident in the way he spoke.
You will absolutely adore the sunrise and the sunset, especially if you watch it at the peak of the mountain. I guess you could say that I'm hoping you love my lands as much as I do, he added before falling silent for a brief moment to allow her the time to take in what he had said.
speech
tagMamaMercy words 408 notes hmm, he definitely loves his home.
As long as the stallion before her isn’t some terrible tyranny type she should be fine. That and as long as the land he seems to love rather dearly isn’t a played up wasteland she was sure it would be a lovely place to call home. He seemed like the passionate sort of guy and so far hadn’t been disrespectful towards her. He had made her flush and a little flustered but nothing too serious. It was mostly her own issues from past experiences in her life that had made her flustered. Her family’s elite attitude towards her and her coloring being the main thing. Though she was still naive in the fact that they had just been jealous. Looking at Romeo their colors were rather similar but to her he was much more handsome than she.
As they walked she smiled enjoying listening to him chatter on and on about his mountain. "What is your mountain’s name?" She asked politely making small talk while nodding her head. Had he said it before? Oh had she just asked a question he had already answered? Oh dear hopefully she didn’t sound like a ditzy. "You'll have to show me the best spots to watch the sunrise and sunset." She added requests from him. Surely the best place to view both wasn’t the same spot as doesn’t the sun rise from a different side than it sets?
Life was short, but Romeo was all for making it the best life anyone could ever have. He was determined to make the best of his life and the lives of those who resided within his herd. He hadn't missed the slightest notion of her turning her gaze away from him as though she were afraid to have him catch her looking. Of course, he wasn't going to be shy about it. He allowed his gaze to willingly roam over her body. Her tempting curves, the delicate rise and fall of her chest area as she breathed, and the way her chocolate eyes twinkled in the light of the sun. He admired the way the light reflected off of her chestnut and ivory coat and the way her mane and tail rustled in the breeze every time it blew through the lands. Though, as they had started walking, things suddenly became a little more real. He was finally bringing another member home to his lands. What is your mountain's name? He heard her question him, allowing a little small talk between the duo.
My mountains are called the Moraine Mountains, he answered with ease. A few moments of silence passed between the two, but to him, it seemed like it was a comfortable kind of silence. You'll have to show me the best spots to watch the sunrise and sunset. Ah, some requests. I'd be honored to show you those spots, he mused, letting the lyrics flow out of his vocal cords. He took a casual glance towards her, before glancing back ahead of them. It wouldn't take them long to reach his lands and he couldn't help but hope that she loved them as much as he did.
