Given the origin of his childhood, Tasunka had this ability to compare every creature to his father and it surprised him when he ran into someone that was so completely different. He assumed that the world was filled with much of the same; ire and punishment abound. It would seem though that Tasunka had found the juxtaposition of his father in Pierce, the complete opposite of how he was raised. It intrigued him, gave him some insight into other personalities he'd not been privy too in his youth.
”I have to admit that is a noble goal.” Tasunka replied quietly, bowing his head in approval. Of course, not all creatures would be like those who raised him but when it’s all you have seen, the only thing you have reference too, well, it becomes imprinted in the brain.
The flowing stream called his attentions, and Tasunka obliged, watching the water run downhill. If he followed it, he’d likely end up in Pierce’s lands. He made a mental note of that.
”Well, I appreciate that. It’s nice to know I have a place to rest my head...sometimes all you need is friends.” The painted stallion waded into the water and dipped his head to drink. This had to be his most pleasant interaction thus far in the wilds, he was appreciative of meeting Pierce.
Pierce had to admit, he hadn't expected this encounter to bode so well. In his youth he could often recall his father chasing strangers from their lands; keeping their herd tightly-knit, unallowing of any outsiders unless known by the king personally. Pierce had always wondered just how the stallion had formed such familial bonds with so very little outside influence, and he supposed he didn't quite understand it until now. Now that he was older, that he had a home and a herd to protect, there was obvious benefit to only keeping friends close. Though admittedly, he was only in the earliest stages of developing such alliances with others. He'd hoped the stallion would take his words into consideration, for certain - but Pierce had to wonder if the stallion intended to return to his mountain home, or perhaps aspire to freely wander. Pierce understood such a drive, and certainly didn't wish to infringe upon it, and so he supposed he wouldn't pry any further.
"Mmh. Friends indeed." He flashed a gentle smile, very much pleased to have met Tasunka here. The King too stepped forward, to the closest source of water that trickled past his hooves, and lowered his head to drink. Perhaps it was a bit more than a shared indulgence, but a toast, to the company they kept.
Lifting his head first, the stallion then turned with intent to return from whence he came. "I believe I must be returning home. I'd hate to be gone for too long and have some other equine believing I've abandoned my post," he said, half-jokingly. He hadn't been gone for quite long anyway, but Pierce supposed he'd grown a bit anxious to return to the forest. "I hope you keep my invitation in your mind. You may always have a place in my court."
Tasunka was surprised that this interaction seemed to bode so well. Not only had the vagabond made something of a friend but a King at that. He managed to secure a place to rest his head when he needed it. Tasunka could freely wander these borderlands and that was enough for the stallion. Pierce continued, kingly duties calling him elsewhere and Tasunka nodded his head. The simple motion was enough recognition, Tasunka could offer him no more than that.
He found his mouth working before he realized.
”It was a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Pierce.” The words were soft, sincere, respectful. Things that Tasunka had practiced in ire when dealing with his father but with Pierce it was...earnest. He bowed his head, an iota, an action that may have been missed had he not been looking for it.
”I wish you luck with your herd and may we run into one another again.” Tasunka released his bow and snorted, turning back to the waters ahead and lowering his muzzle to the stream. he would take a drink and be on his way. He had many other place to see now, didn’t he.
